Rare early c.20th Kaiser Idell 6718 scissor lamps designed by the German silversmith Christian Dell for Gebr Kaiser & Co in Neheim Hüsten in the 1930's. Made from black lacquered steel with a long telescopic scissor arm. These lamps come complete with their original bakelite turn switches. These look equally good in any space retail or residential, they can be hung and extended from either wall or ceiling.
They are fine examples of the Bauhaus aesthetic at its peak of production. Totally devoid of ornamentation, there machine age appearance have become the hallmark of mass-produced 20th century design to this day.
The term “idell” is a reference to the word idea and his last name, Dell. “Kaiser” is a reference to the manufacturer.
