A Matched Pair of Early Duck Decoys

Date of Manufacture: 1900's

Period: Early 20th Century

Materials and Techniques:  Hand painted ,hand carved wood.

H 16cm (6 inch)  W 13cm (6 inch) x D 37cm (14 inch) 

 

In great as found condition, solidly carved with original chippy paint and lead weight.

 

These decoys were originally fixed to a floating a shaped frame known as a rig which had anything from a few to a few hundred decoys mounted on it.

 

Both decoys show  great overall patina through age and use (have been shot) minor wear to the edges of the beak and tail.
