Vestaray Silvered Mercury Mirror Glass Pendant Light Early 20th Century.

 

Two very early and rare mercury glass reflector lights by British manufacturer "Vesta Ray" John Walsh Walsh Ltd., Soho and Vest Glass Works, Lodge Road, Birmingham manufacturers of hand-made full crystal table glass, scientific and lighting. 

 

This stunning light was originally used to illuminate shop window displays. The silvered interiors bounced light around the retail environment, enhancing the goods on display.  The off round or parabolic shape is formed from pressed glass ribbed on both the exterior and interior, the exterior is then finished or sealed with a layer of reflective silvering.  There are no chips or damage to the glass itself.

 

The light bears the full original manufacturers trademark ‘‘Vesteray Sealed Process reflector," "Vesta Ray Made in England." 

 

Restored and rewired, supplied with antique style solid brass hooked bayonet lamp and shade holder, suspension chain,  3 core braided flex and ceiling hook.
