A pair of substantial candlesticks incorporating their original gilt brass candle sconces. Chunky central columns with unusual domed bases, hand painted in gilt gold and red. The design has a lively naturalistic theme of blossoming pomegranate and insects including a grasshopper, a symbol of good luck and fortune, focus, abundance, intuition, taking a leap of faith, achievement, freedom, wealth, and patience.

Sympathetically rewired in antique braided black silk flex, tethered to the central columns hand knotted dark red chinses silk rope, a popular chosen for its colour symbolism.
