Original paint its design  features what appear to be mandarin within a landscape flying kites on a beautiful indigo blue ground.

Chinese kites and its long history of cultural significance begins thousands of years ago.  (475 - 221 B.C.) by Mozi and Lu Ban, two philosophers who came after the teachings of Confucius. Mainly, they were used for military purposes. The first kites were what we today would call prototype kites: they were made of light wood and cloth and later silk. They were designed to mimic a bird's natural flight. The first Chinese kites were used for measuring distances, which was useful information for moving large armies across difficult terrain. They were also used to calculate and record wind readings and provided a unique form of communication like ship flags at sea.

The piece unsurprisingly has some elements  of age, cracks, and deterioration to small areas of  the wood and paint; however, this does not detract from it and only makes it more appealing.  It is just so genuinely beautiful, which I love.  Its new owner can be safe in the knowledge that this piece has been professionally conserved, untouched sealing it only against any further damage and deterioration.

A culturally significant, insightful, and exciting imposing, statement piece to talk about and display for posterity, fully rewired and pat tested.
