    A Fine quality quatrefoil ormolu lamp base of grand proportions depicting an amalgamation of exquisitely cast Gothic Decorative elements of the period including boss, quatrefoil, geo tracery in relief, forming the substantial quatrefoil base, the form of each tripod foot is the most beautiful winged Chimera gargoyle and three further upright grotesques also hold the sconce, exquisite metalwork of a particular high standard.

     

    The quality of design and craftsmanship is of a quality to that of A.W.N Pugin prominent architect and designer of the 19th Century, in its close attention to detail and treatment of ornament (Illustrations and sketches) and the domestic and ecclesiastical furnishing in collaboration with John Hardsman & Co.

     

    Originally acquired from a Country house sale, this is an extremely fine example of English Gothic Revival in a domestic setting.

     

    Exquisite chasing colour and patina to the gilt, wear consistent with age and use.

     

    Converted, rewired and tested.
