Taxidermy Fox H. Murray & Son

 

Stunning taxidermy fox mask, trophy (Vulpes Vulpes) mounted on an elegant period carved oak shield. Complete with its original ivorine plaque which reads 'Betley, December 5, 1928.'

 

To the reverse of the shield is the original paper trade label with Leopard astride its prey, reads: ‘H. Murray & Son Naturalists and specialists in pictorial taxidermy, Bank Buildings Carnforth.’

 

The business of Murray of Carnforth was established in 1872 by Henry Murray, they produced taxidermy of the highest quality which was equal to other top class taxidermist of that era, producing work for museums, decorative cases for the private market and trophies for the hunting fraternity.
